Round one of the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section girls basketball playoffs took place on Tuesday with no major upsets.
Bracket No. 1 seeds like Pleasant Grove (D-I), St. Mary's of Stockton (D-II), and Sac High (D-III) all prevailed by large margins, while every No. 2 - 4 seed moved on to the second round in each bracket.
In Division IV, No. 2 Colfax, No. 3 West Campus, and No. 4 Bear River were the local teams that advanced to the next round.
No. 12 St. Francis had no problem No. 5 Monterey Trail (61-50) in Division I, and while this appears to be an upset, it was not.
As is typical with round one, most of the games saw large margin victories, but in Division II there were two close games with No. 8 Inderkum edging No. 9 Del Campo, 56-53, and No. 6 Graces Davis prevailing in overtime to beat No. 11 Antelope, 77-75.
So with round one now over, teams will get ready for round two set for Thursday.
