With round one of the Sac Joaquin section playoffs officially getting underway Thursday night, the remainder of opening round games took place Friday night.
No. 5 Granite Bay played host to No. 12 Napa in a Division I matchup where the Grizzlies took a 10-7 lead to the half, but a pair of second half rushing touchdowns by Arik Bird, plus another by Taft Partridge, sparked Granite Bay to a 31-7 win.
The win keeps Granite Bay home for round two when they take on No. 13 Oak Ridge.
Del Oro 42, Sacramento 0
In Loomis, the No. 2 Del Oro Golden Eagles ground attack was relentless with senior Nick O’Sullivan and junior Brandon Monroe each rushing for a pair of touchdowns as part of a 42-0 win over the No. 15 Sac High Dragons in Division III.
With Del Oro up 21-0, the defense stepped up when Tanner Woods intercepted a pass and took it 27 yards for another Golden Eagles touchdown to go up 28-0 after the first quarter.
Del Oro will host No. 7 Placer in round two Friday.
